The iPhone App Review - Score: 10/10    By M. Schusterman

While I’ve always found the ringtone selection on my iPhone to be sort of disappointing, it didn’t bother me enough to go trolling for ringtones. I didn’t want to spend money on one, a lot of the websites that offer them are shady and it seemed like too much of a hassle in general.

ToneRack, an app designed by CellBubble, offers a selection of high-quality, original electronic ringtones simply and with no in-app purchase. The interface is easy to navigate, and the ringtones are divided into three categories for you to browse.

All of the sounds are electronic, ambient and well-produced; many of them put me in mind of the first few seconds of a techno song, the kind that causes people to crowd the dance floor when it starts to play. The “Alarms” category has a few video game-like sounds, “Beats” has (as you might guess) trance, house and just general dance beats, and “Ringers” is divided into two categories; “Premium Ringers” and “X Edge and Melodies,” which range from arcade sort of noises to melodic lines.

The sounds are truly unique, ideal if you just can’t have the same ringtone as everyone else. As you check out a ringtone, you can tap Play/Pause at the bottom, add it to your download queue, or download it right there. If you want to download several, it’s best to add them to the queue, then tap “Downloads” at the bottom to get them all at once.

Because Apple requires that ringtones are synced through iTunes, the ringtones don’t download straight to your iPhone. Once you tap “Download,” you’ll be asked to enter your email address twice (and ToneRack saves it after the first time). My ringtones arrived instantly in my inbox, along with a set of very simple instructions. I downloaded the tone to my desktop, drag it into iTunes, connected my iPhone and synced. The ringtones appeared in my settings under “Custom Ringtones.” The entire process, once I’d chosen my ringtones, took less than a minute.

For two dollars, this is an outstanding collection of completely original ringtones. I recommend it for anyone looking for a different tune for their phone.

Find My Soft – 5 Stars “Excellent” – Nice Collection of Unique Ringtones

If everyone liked the same things, then we would all wear the same clothes, eat the same things, and use the same tech. But we do not like the same things. We all have different tastes and preferences and that’s what sets us apart. So why would you use the same ringtone that every other iPhone user has? Why wouldn’t you get a ringtone that would set you apart?

You can do that by getting an app. There’s an app for pretty much anything you can think of, so why wouldn’t there be one that has some nice ringtone to offer? The CellBubble-developed ToneRack is just such an app. It is a collection of quality electro-inspired ringtones, alarms and soundscapes you could use to customize the way your iPhone sounds.

The app puts what seems to be an endless supply of sounds at your disposal and the nice thing is that they are all top quality and original sounds. As CellBubble explained, “you can be sure you won’t find any boring, old, low quality ringtones here.” All the sounds have been produced by CellBubble’s creative in-house sound designer/music producer, which means no app out there has the sounds ToneRack has. Some sound like the intro to a house song, some sound like what you may hear in a video game, they all sound amazing.

To get some nice sounds, use the app to browse through the collection. While browsing you can play and pause sounds. Once you’ve found one you like, you can then download it; if you found several that you like, you can add them to the download queue. The sound doesn’t download directly to your iPhone; it is sent to your email. In the email you are presented with instruction on how to use iTunes to sync the sound and use it on your iPhone.

To my mind, things are pretty clear-cut: if you don’t want to have the same ringtones every other iPhone user out there has, you can get the ToneRack app and have access to a myriad of top quality, unique, electro-inspired sounds.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • A myriad of ringtones and alarms
  • Unique sounds

Cons

  • None that I could think of
